The area ‘KAMARES AND AG. MARINA SQUARES, PARKING SPACES, PLAYGROUND AND CONNECTIVE COASTAL ROAD’ in Kamares settlement in Municipality of Sifnos constitutes a significant entrance towards the settlement, as it borders with the island’s hyperlocal road axes and lies near the center of the settlement’s consistent part. The area of the redesign occupies a surface of 13.000m2.

The main synthetic and functional features of the intervention are:
The “invasion” of the natural landscape into the current outdoor configuration of the communal spaces -with the purpose of the reinstatement of the residential microscale-,   the redrawing of the parking spaces, the insertion of low and high plantings defining the parking zones and the reinforcement of the coastal road’s axis through the creation of sidewalk–cycle path in the non-shaped elongated part, that lies in parallel to the road heading towards the sea.

In addition, the synthesis includes promenade, sitting and observation areas and a cycle path. This axis begins from the settlement’s consistent centre and heads towards the synthesis’ north edge, while it connects individual open public spaces, such as Kamares Square, Ag.Marina Square and the Playground area. Finally, the paths in the squares are smoothed with a slight maintained inclination and PRMs’ accessibility is ensured through ramps.
